Green Valley Sheriff’s Auxiliary Volunteers

Bill Roskey

Several thefts have been reported to SAV recently:

1.      One Green Valley resident ordered two rare gold coins, which she did not receive.  When she inquired, the company told her they’d been sent and she should have received them.  She then contacted the Post Office, where they told her that a claim slip had been left in her mail box, that someone had signed her name, had come in, and had been given the package with the coins.

2.     Another Green Valley resident reported approximately $30,000 in jewelry had been stolen from her home.

3.     Still another person reported that the Fraud Department of her bank told her that an online check was issued on her checking account in the amount of $700.  The bank told her that they put a stop payment on the check, and the victim closed her accounts and opened new ones.

4.     Finally, in what is certainly the most unusual theft in Green Valley for a long, long time, a woman reported that someone had stolen a brick wall from her property.  Yes, a brick wall measuring approximately five feet by two and a half feet, which sat atop another larger wall.

SAV reminds residents to be careful with their property.  While Green Valley is not a hotbed of criminal activity, there are some people around who steal.  They generally prefer money, but as we’ve seen in the last item, they can sometimes walk off with other unexpected things as well.
