Green Valley Sheriff’s Auxiliary Volunteers

Carol Roskey

There was a new twist to the lost family member scheme in Green Valley last week.  A couple received a call form a person who claimed to be their grandson.  The called stated he was in Canada and had been fined for fishing on Indian property.  He could not return to the United States until the fine was paid.  He wanted his “grandparents” to send $3100 via a Wal-Mart mail-a-gram.” When he called again, an SAV officer took the telephone upon.  When the SAV volunteer identified himself, the caller promptly hung up.

Retail stores seem to think the Christmas season is upon us.  Christmas time is not only a time of job but a time when the bad guys come out in force.  SAV will be offering tips to make this Christmas a safe holiday over the next few weeks.  Today we will remind shoppers to keep purchases out of site in their cars and lock the doors and trunk.  Make it hard for a thief to break into your car.

Several SAV members will be honored at the November SAV meeting for their commitment:  500 hrs Jane Lohmann; 1000 hrs. George Grove, John Packer and John Van Dyke; 3000 hrs. Don Keller; 4000 hrs Harry Spiering; 6000 hrs. Paul Kline; 7000 hrs. Ron Clark, Maryjane Leblanc and Verna Rogge.  These members serve Green Valley in a variety of roles, from taking fraud calls, to patrolling, to serving as bailiff, and providing community services.
