Green Valley Sheriff’s Auxiliary Volunteers

Carol Roskey

There always seems to be an increase in thefts around Christmas time and last week was no different than previous years.

A Green Valley resident was at the local casino for a couple of hours and had two cameras stolen out of his truck while he and his wife were inside. A knitting bag with yarn was also missing.  It was thought that the bag was used to carry the cameras.  The victim reported that a back window was open a few inches and that is probably how the thief got into the vehicle. The cameras were valued at approximately $1300.

Another Green Valley resident reported that his motorcycle trailer was stolen while he was out of town.  Also stolen on the trailer was a tile saw, a mitre saw, a rotary hammer a wheelbarrow and other miscellaneous items.  The loss was estimated at $4000.

There were several cases of vandalized cars last week. For example, one Green Valley resident had his car ransacked in his driveway during the night.  The car had been left UNLOCKED. The gentleman didn’t think anything was missing.  In addition two of his neighbors had their cars broken into but they weren’t so lucky.  They had items stolen.

Thieves will always take the easy way and most of these Green Valley residents made it easy for the thieves to help themselves.  Windows were open, doors were open and valuable items were left unsecured.  Don’t let a thief help themselves to your valuables. Make it hard for a thief to take advantage of you.
